This years league has been a very close fought Championships and with final honours being handed out today no doubt we will see the toughest games yet. Come on down and support all the teams and see who will be crowned 2011 Phillips Irish League Championships.
Thanks to the Swiss for a great tournament, at a fantastic venue. Bring on 2013 IWRF European Championships which will be held in Belgium. Maybe you could be the player that makes the difference for Irish Wheelchair Rugby in 2013.
Ireland finish the 2011 IWRF European Championships Ranked 11. It was a disappointing tournament for the Irish Team. Ireland will need to look to further development and recruitment of players over the coming years to hopefully see them reach a higher level at the 2013 European Championships with hopes of qualifying for the 2014 World Championships and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Congratulations to Sweden, Great Britain, Belgium and France who have qualified for next years Paralympic Games in London. I'm sure they will do the IWRF European Zone proud.
Despite taking the game to Austria in the fight to make it into the 9th-10th Play Off at the IWRF European Championships, Austria managed to gain control of the game early in the 2nd Half and slowly pulled away from the Irish Team to finish with a 12 Goal Margin and a place in the Top 10 European Teams. The team were disappointed not to beat Austria today and now face a drop in their ranking position and qualification for the next European Championships in Belgium in 2013.
Ireland were today beaten by a fast, mobile and aggressive Frnch Team. France have come a long way in a short amount of time, with the recruitment of a number of strong key players France have progressed from 12th Ranked Position to being within a hands breath of making the Final of the IWRF European Wheelchair Rugby Championships.
