As in previous games the Swiss relied on their height advantage and long ball tactics while the Irish utilised the speed of Moylan and Dineen. Both teams traded points in the first 2 quarters with Ireland up by one at the end of the first and second quarters. In the third the Swiss kicked up a gear and started to force time outs and turnovers out of the Irish and gained a 3 point lead in a matter of minutes and started to look to have the one foot on the plane to Finland. Time for some words of inspiration for coach McLindon. A quick change in pressing tactics immediately swung momentum back in favour of the boys in green and the Swiss immediately started to concede turnovers under the now eminence pressure of the Irish which left the Irish seeing out the third quarter back in the lead by one point.
More of the same in the fourth and final quarter seen Ireland triumph ofer Switzerland for the first time ever and in doing so book their place in the European A Finals in Finland in September.
The final score, 50-42. Today was a good day. Ireland will now face France in the final tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm local time (2pm Irish time)
