Ireland stepped up the mark today facing first Brazil and then Korea in fantastic games to secure qualification for the GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championships, in Sydney Australia from 5 - 10 Aug 2018.

Brazil pushed Ireland in the first quarter with turn overs going both ways. Ireland managed to keep their composure and pulled back to finish the quarter with a 1 Goal Lead with the arrow, allowing them to bring it to a 2 Goal lead at the start of the second. Ireland continued to push the Brazilians, forcing them to use their time outs early in the game and then pushing them to make turnovers. Ireland finished the Second Quarter 26 - 23. The third quarter saw Ireland push their lead, forcing errors from the Brazilians who struggled to contain the Irish on Offence finishing the third 42 - 36. The final quarter the Brazilians continued to switch up their lines but the Irish Team pushed out the lead managing to finish with the game by 8 with a final score 55 - 47.

With just a few hours rest the Irish Team played the final game of the Pool against Korea. High aggression from the start, lots of big hits and plenty players out on the floor. Ireland dominated from the whistle and finished up the game 49 - 36, to finish as the only team to win all Pool Games.

Ireland are now through to the Semi Finals tomorrow ad face old rivals Poland. Good luck to the team against Poland tomorrow, we are behind you all the way. Go Ireland!!
